The Story

A gloomy open day in the 70s at Singleton Army Camp started my interest in the pipes. The Edinburgh tattoo became a must-see event for many years afterwards.  Then Bon Scott & AC/DC with Long Way To The Top and the iconic film clip for the song with the Rats of Tobruk Pipe Band.  I have been a member of or practiced with many pipe bands over the years including Epping, Lithgow, Bankstown, Sydney University Regiment, St Marys, Blue Mountains and Clan MacCleod.

TV appearances include Roy & HG's Club Buggery and Elle McFeast's Live & Sweaty in the 1990s.  I have also played at many weddings, funerals & events over the years.

'Bonnie Doon' comes from nearby Bonnie Doon Reserve in Katoomba and also, of course, the iconic Australian film, 'The Castle'. The name originally comes from a Robert Burns song, 'Ye Banks & Braes o' Bonnie Doon' (1791).

Why Choose Bonnie Doon piper?

The skirl and spectacle of  the pipes adds a memorable and magic ambience to many events and occasions. Specific music can be requested, suggested or selected, arranged and played solo or at concert pitch to be in tune with other instruments such as guitar or organ, etc. Most bookings are in the Upper Blue Mountains. The charge for most events is $200.
